Animal-assisted rehabilitation in speech therapy
Target Groups:
Children and adults for whom animal-assisted rehabilitation is appropriate.
Education:
Service dog training in 2018.
Suitability test in 2019 and work demonstration in 2021 for the “Dogs in Education and Rehabilitation Work” training program, together with instructor Henna-Liisa Kaihovirta.
Experience:
Since 2021 as a rehabilitation dog.
Additional information:
Ria also works as a service dog for Henna-Liisa at the ombrelo Seinäjoki premises. At those times, Ria must be allowed to focus on her work, meaning no talking to her or petting her. You can recognize a service dog by its work vest, which has a blue-and-white service dog emblem. As a rehabilitation dog, Ria works only in the therapy room with the client at a pre-arranged time.
